Skoda named best buy for new cars this year

Buyers looking for the best deals on used cars and new cars could do worse than keep an eye on the What Car? Awards.

The magazine has announced that the Octavia from Skoda has been named the best buy estate for under £15,000, the new car picking up the award at the ceremony held in the Grovenor House hotel in London.

Beating off competition from other top vehicles, including the Kia Cee'd SW, Vaxhaull Astra and Ford Focus, the £12,965 Octavia 1.6 FDI Classic raced ahead of the pack to pick up the best buy gong.

Steve Fowler, editor at What Car? said: "You don't need to have a large budget to buy a practical estate car with loads of room.

"As an overall package, the Octavia is still ahead of its rivals."

He added that the boot of the Octavia is large, while buyers taking out a car loan could take advantage of a number of discounts that could be available for the car.

Skoda Auto is a Czech car manufacturer that became a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group in 1991.
