Ford announces rise in sales of new cars

07/02/2008
Vehicle manufacturer Ford has announced boosted retail sales of its new cars.

The company, which offers models such as the Focus and Fiesta, said it attracted 20 per cent more private new car buyers in January of this year compared to the same period in 2007.

Ford said it ended the month ahead by around 5,000 vehicles, which might encourage those considering the purchase of a new car.

Describing itself as the UK's favourite car brand, it highlighted features of the Focus, including its keyless operating system and "kinetic" design.

"Our sales momentum continues thanks to Ford's flow of new products, with the latest Ford Focus on sale this month followed by the Kuga crossover and a fresh small car line-up later this year," added Roelant de Waard, chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain.

Last month saw the 2008 BusinessCar Awards recognise the company in five categories.

The Mondeo won prizes for best business car of the year, upper medium car of the year and best estate car, while the S-Max won best mini multi purpose vehicle (MPV) and the Galaxy was best MPV overall.
