Car loans customers 'may be confused by green claims'
17/07/2008
A new study has revealed that many motorists, which may include car loan customers, find eco-friendly claims made by advertisers to be confusing.
The research carried out by NICE Car Company found 78 per cent of motorists surveyed said claims such as 'low-carbon car' confuse them.
According to the firm, this figure rose to 85 per cent among people over the age of 55, yet fell to 71 per cent for those aged 16 to 24.
Julian Wilford, co-founder of the company, said the results of the survey were not surprising.
"Green advertising claims are a bit of a free-for-all at the moment. Add a bewildering array of manufacturers' environmental programmes branded eco-this and blue-that and you have a cocktail for confusion," he commented.
Consumers ought to be able to access "more consistent" information about cars, he added.
Car finance customers may be interested to know that the NICE Car Company offers a range of "clean and fun" transport options, including electric-powered cars and vans.
